About The Course
John Calvin is one of the most influential figures in Christian history. The 16th-century French Protestant Reformer is best-known for his ministry in Geneva, his authorship of the Institutes of the Christian Religion, and for being the father of the theological tradition known as Calvinism.
In this course, Reformed theologian Yudha Thianto introduces you to John Calvin. You’ll learn about his historical significance and come to appreciate his heart and passion for ministry as Dr. Thianto provides an overview of the key events in Calvin’s life.
You’ll also be introduced to the Institutes of the Christian Religion, one of the most significant writings of the Protestant Reformation. Over the course of his lifetime and through several editions, Calvin expanded the Institutes from a brief study to a four-volume book that covers the main doctrines of the Christian faith and continues to shape the theology of the Reformed tradition.
